Diseases such as polio, tuberculosis, diphtheria and whooping cough, largely preventable by vaccine, are still prevalent in Haiti. The children of Haiti will receive vaccinations from these diseases in the new clinic. The clinic will also provide first aid and basic health care. A number of physicians and nurses are waiting for the clinic to be completed so that they can visit on medical missions to provide care. Another major cause of illness in Haiti is malnutrition. The clinic will help treat malnutrition by providing meals through its food distribution program.
